Enabling legacy buiding blocks

It is foreseen that future emergency communications framework will be made up of ready-to-use building blocks, already able to use IP and SIP/IMS protocols for mission critical communications and services.

Although this evolution could be considered as disruptive, most of the current emergency systems are already being adapted to somehow interoperate with next generation technologies. A smooth transition period is expected, where legacy systems are able to communicate through the new communications framework. For that aim, different building blocks will require adaptation plugs either at IP or at SIP/IMS layers in function of their native support.

In this sense, the nemergent initiative focuses on the analysis of the open interfaces and procedures defined by the next generation emergency communications protocols, in order to evaluate and propose open connection solutions for different legacy technologies.
